I've been busy with university things (-->exams), so the review of this album arrives only now (and I also needed some days to listen to few songs more), but here it is!
XOXOgossip girl is the first, long awaited EXO album, and we have two version -one Korean and one Chinese- that make our wallets cry. They come in two nice packages (though the covers are a bit boring and I'm not sure if I'll ever hung those poster on my walls XD), and the pictures from the booklet are just.TOO.CUTE (don't make me start talking about the concept because I love it *_*). But let's talk about the songs!
Wolf: (K MV- M MV) the main trackactually leaked like.. in the first months of this year? And everyone (me too) thought it was a joke. A bad one. It HAD to be, because... well, listen to the song. It's lulzy and doesn't make sense... at first. Because, after the release of the album, the MVs, and all the performances... well, Wolf has grown on me. Really. It's still quite hilarious, but I listen to it. And I actually think that the last minute of the song is pretty good! The strong point of Wolf is that the concept is, indeed, particular, but it's also very original, it's not the usual sexy/cute concept of Korean boybands. I love the dance and the MVs are nice too. Well, we only have the dance versions of the video, we're atill waiting for the drama version (which, judging from the teaser, seems AWESOME).

Baby Don't Cry: (K - M) this is one of the songs we first heard in the debut teasers, so more than one year ago (well, I actually listened to it for the first time only this summer, because at that time I wasn't a fan yet). We've waited months for the full version, and it's beautiful T_T And the part from 2:14 argh T_____T Also, THE LIVE VERSION!
Black Pearl: (K - M) another song from the teaser, where we could only hear the instrumental version. The 8th teaser is one of my favorite EXO teasers, and I really, really love the instrumental version of Black Pearl. So I was super happy to read that it would have been in the album, and now I'm in love with it!
Don't Go: (K - M) this is one of the songs that, at first, I thought was nothing special. I don't know why, but the Korean version wasn't so great, to me. I realized how good this song is only when I listened to the Mandarin version. Now it's one of my favorite of the album. Usually I like K and M's songs in the same way (but not the rap parts, because Duizhang's attemps are too laughable and Chanyeol is too good at it, so K's rap parts are always a lot better) but with this album I realized that sometimes I prefer M's versions, because I have a soft spot for Chen+Luhan+Lay's voices.
Let Out the Beast: (K - M) I like it a lot! It's a genre that suits EXO, I think they do it really well. A lot of people said 'They should have promoted with this one, instead of Wolf!' and... yes, it's good but... we don't know. Wolf is more peculiar, so I guess it's okay. Anyway, I really want to see a live performance of this song! And I slightly prefer the K version (that 'Ladies and gentlemen' at the beginning of the M's one... Ben Ben, please)
3.6.5: (K - M) When this leaked, everyone was 'It sounds a lot like One Direction's songs!' and then there was me: '????', because I didn't know any of their songs XD Then I checked and it's indeed a very similar genre... whatever. The song is cheerful and summer-ish, it's quite nice but not among my favorites.
Heart Attack: (K - M) The fandom is in love with this song. Yes, it's good, but it has something that somehow bothers me... I think it's the refrain, because I like the rest. It's a pity, because the rest of the song is really good. Anyway it's not that I don't like the refrain, I just find it... strange?
Peter Pan: (K - M) Once again, thanks to the Chinese version! because when I listened to the Korean one, I was like 'Meh, what it this?', I was really uninpressed. Then the M version happened, and it's actually quite nice. it's probably the guys' voices' fault again XD It's not great, but it's a lot nicer than I thought at first!
Baby: (K - M) I want to erase the part in the refrain when they repeat 'Baby baby etc', because I really don't like it and it's a pity, because the rest of the song it's really good ç_ç I love all the rest ç____ç That damn 'Baby baby'! Luckyly it isn't that long, so I can bear with it, but :/
My Lady: (K - M) I want to cry everytime I hear this song because it's just SO GOOD. And do you remember all that shit I wrote about 'sometimes I prefer M's songs because of the voices etc'?. Well, it doesn't apply to this one because DAMN DO KYUNGSOO VOICE IN THIS SONG IS PERFECT. I mean, everything is perfect, but his voice ç_ç I loved the teaser version and I love this version even more!!
In conclusion, this album is something I wasn't expecting from EXO. Because, in Kpop, I rarely fing such good albums, especially with relatively new groups. Main songs are ok, but usually I don't like most of the songs from albums, because they're really inconsistent. So I wasn't expecting EXO to make a comeback with such a solid album full of good songs (really, really good songs). and a clear concept. So I'm really happy for them (and they're also selling a lot!!), and I hope they'll do even better in the future! My little kids ;_;
